Where should I apply for my first Credit card?

I'm 19 and I've been using my debit card for about a year now. I applied to get a credit card from my bank (Washington Mutual) but they didn't approve it. Where else should I apply for my first credit card. Everytime I apply for other cards like macy's and Kohl's they don't approve it either. What can I do? Thanx in advance
I do have a job and my monthly income is about 2000

http://www.orchardbank.com seems to gaurantee some sort of credit card; read it on their website.

Do you have a job, so that you can document your ability to repay? Otherwise, see if you can get a secured credit card from Washington Mutual or another bank. (Don't fall for the internet scams though.)

JcPenney's & Mervyn's are pretty easy to get. If you can't get those then go to your bank and ask to be signed up for a secured credit card with them.

don't try to apply for a regular card if you don't have any credit. try to apply for a "student" credit card. most banks won't try to verify whether or not you're really a student and they have lower standards for getting approvals. another option would be with someone like bank of america who offers a secured card. check with your local banks about secured cards and their purpose.

American Blue Express Credit Card: Apart from no annual fee feature of the American Blue Express it also gives cash returns on specific purchases. Users of the American Blue Express also enjoy protection against fraud for online credit card transactions. This card tries to right the various wrong notions about the American Express credit cards, one of which is that it is a credit card only for rich or those who have money to keep a credit card.
