What should I look for when applying for a credit card for the first time as a 19 year old college student?
What should I look for when applying for a credit card account? Im mostly going to use it for big time emergencies when im low on cash or something. I dont want it to be high in interest rates and things like that, definitley don't want to be in credit card debt.
oh by the way i live in Michigan… if that matters? lol

If I were you, I will hold off on a Credit Card for now. The economy is down and you will sure enough get a high interest rate. Be smart and wait until at least your senior year. Credit Card Companies feed off of students.

Just check everything rates, late payment fees, over limit fees, Better Business Bureaus, perks, cash back etc., just compare, even to the point I would even ask relatives and friends what they like about their credit card company. By educating yourself, you will be better armed at making the right decision to get the best deal.

If you are a college student, then it's best to apply for a credit card designed for students. Citibank has some of the best credit card offers that have low interest and no annual fees. You should definitely want some cards that have no annual fees and low interest rates since you won't be using it alot. So whether you use the card or not, it won't cost you anything for having one.
