Does anyone have this credit card and if so, which Gas stations or grocery places do you need to go to to get 3% cashback? thanks!
Doesn't matter which gas station or grocery store, as long as that retailer codes the transaction such that Chase will be able to detect and credit you accordingly.
Yes, at the point of sale terminal (where you swipe your card) you must select debit (instead of credit) and enter you PIN.
Looking for a credit card to help me analyze my expenditures and budget! Have only found business cards that offer this.
Besides Amex? I know Amex has some great offers, but since I only want a single card, need to make sure it's most widely accepted (Visa, M/C). Thanks!
You might try AMEX's personal cards.
Got $480 from the Costco AMEX card (3% cashback on eating out, 2% travel, 1% all else); get $100 every few months from a Chase VISA (5% on groceries, gas, drugstores – 1% otherwise) and a couple $100 from a USAA MC where it's only 1% back but we charge our insurance, cable / internet bill to that card…
What are some normal cash-back amounts and can you recommend other / better ways to make money back on the money you spend? thanks!
(and hope this helps some out there figure out how great credit cards can be is you know how to use them — my husband and I have joint card accounts and charge EVERYTING to the cards, pay the balance in full each month and only have cards with no annual fee… just need to remember what card to use for gas, for a restaurant, etc for max % reward…)
you do well!!! we have only gotten $20 on a discover card. we tend to not use them alot.
Also, what account is ok for getting the cash back? Is it really cash back, or does one get a gift card for only certain places?
It states it takes about 60 days to receive it…
any luck for those trying it?
It's free, and they pay you with paypal. It took 60 days to get my my first Live cash payment, and a couple I'm still waiting on. It just wasn't worth it to wait 60 days, so I switched to www.PaymentKey.com which pays in 15 days.
But I love PaymentKey because it's serious cash. It works with hundreds of stores including eBay to the tune of about 11% but that varies, but not too much less and many times more.
I hope that helps you save money in this struggling economy.

Im confused so maybe someone could correct me if I'm wrong.
1. During checkout clerk asks: "would you like cash back"
2. Then total is rung up and payment is made "with added
cash back included (usually an increment of 10?) "
Is it the register or clerk that calculates how much money is given back or is it just the amount of cash back the
customer wants since the original purchase was deducted via the card.
Basically is it complicated?
Both. You have to read the register to know how much to give back.
If the customer says they want 20 back, but push the button for 10, and you just do like they tell you, your drawer will be 10 short.
Most times, when I am shopping, I have to tell the cashier I am getting cash back, because they will usually not even ask and shut the drawer. I have to show them my receipt and then wait for them to ring through another customer so they can get their drawer open and I can get my cash.
As to the very last line of your question, if the customer is honest, lol, they have a purchase of $8.81 and want $20.00 cash back, the card should charge them $28.81 and they get back $20.00.
Check the receipt as you are turning to hand it to the customer just to be sure that everything is correct.
What's the point if I want an entry level card.

The approval guidelines are less strict for student credit cards. I would say as long as you don't have BAD CREDIT, you should try to apply for one of these offers. Since they're designed for students with little or no income (and less credit history) you'll have a good chance of getting approved– as long as you're going to school and don't have any negative items on your credit report. If you don't receive the advertised terms and conditions– just don't accept the offer.
Here's a great place to search and compare offers:

Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!
