Lets say I buy items for £25 using credit card and take £50 as cashback on same card from any store which provide cash back facility, do they consider as a single transaction of £75 or two transaction 1. Shopping for £25 , 2. Cash withdrawl of £50. If they consider a single transaction, its intrest free untill my due date otherwise £50 would be considered as cash taken from ATM. I do not know answer yet and thats why its here.

cashback on credit cards is usually not available at checkouts. i assume that it is because of this very reason which you have highlighted.
otherwise it would be next to impossible for the card issuer to differentiate which rate of interest ( normal or cash advance) they must apply to transactions.

that change every two months (next month starts 5% back on gas, WOOHOO!). I pay my balance off every month if I use it and they have never made any money off of me in finance charges yet I have money coming to me from these cashback deals. I just wonder how it's benefiting them to have me as a customer.

Do they just hope I let my balance sit at some point? My aunt also has them and does the same thing I do and I imagine a lot of people do. It's actually costing them money to have us as customers…

I'll have to check into that Citi card. But my aunt uses hers for all her monthly bills that can be paid with a card and racks up her cashback that way. I mean, boat payments, insurance, food, utilities, etc., she's probably getting 1% by February.

When you use your credit card, the place you buy at has to pay Discover a fee (usually small like 1-3%). This is why some places have a minimum purchase amount when using a credit card, because they end up losing money paying fees.

I use discover card too, but only on the 5% categories. They only give 0.25% cashback on your first $1,000 in purchases in a calendar year, 0.5% up to $2,500 and only then do you start earning 1%. It stinks because I don' t use mine enough to hit the 1% until July or August. Read the fine print, you may have the same deal…. I switched to Citi with "thank you rewards" and they give me 5% on everything.

when i go to bells or tesco and pay for anyhting with my credit card they ask me if i want cashback. my card has a £100 limit and i have tried takking money from a cash machine but it wont let me, will it work in this circumstance?~?

I ASSUME YOU MEAN your daily cash withdrawal limit if so once you have reached the £100 limit for the day it will be impossible to exceed this either by cash back or machine
this is a tact you could have a million pounds in the bank but the computer will not allow you to exceed your daily limit under any circumstances AND ANYONE WHO SAYS DIFFERENT IS COMPLETELY WRONG so save yourself the embarrassment at the queue and don't try it.

If you have purchased goods to the value of £100 you will still be able to have a cash back up to the stores limit and you daily cash limit, purchases don't count against your limit it is only actual cash withdrawals that count towards your limit

OK so money is REALLY low right now, and I had a thought of going into a shop and buying some random thing so I can get cashback from it.

But…. there is basically sod all in my current account til payday so I can't use my debit card, but what about my credit card? Can I get cashback with that too? I've never tried with that before. Thanks

No, you can only get cashback with your debit card. Don't even try using your credit card in a ATM to withdraw cash, unless you want to pay interest from the date of the withdrawal!
