Will my credit card rewards points transfer to a new card?

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Are ther any credit card companies that entice new customers by letting them take all their reward points from their old card with them when they switch to a new card?

My current credit card APR is 12%. I want to get a card with a lower rate, but dont want to lose all the reward points I have accrued.

Check with Visa, Master Card and Discovery directly, go to their web sites. If the answer is not at their site call them. I'm sure they want to keep you as a customer so they may help you keep your rewards even when you switch Banks, instead of having you go to one of their competitors…Visa vs Master, Discover vs Visa, etc.

What is the best cashback reward credit card in canada?

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

One of my friend told me that president`s choice master card give $30 on every 30000 president`s choice points. Is there other more generous one?

PC isn't bad, you get 10 points for every dollar spent and can redeem 1,000 points for one dollar after you've accumulated 20,000.

http://www.pcpoints.ca/en/index.asp

Example, if you spent $100 you will accumulate 1,000 points which can be redeemed for $1. Basically we're talking about a 1% cashback program here (possibly 1.5% – I'm not sure if it's an EXTRA 5% for shopping at Presidents Choice participating stores).

I like the Citi "Drivers Edge" card, which has 2% which can be put against the purchase of a new or used car.

http://www.citibank.com/canada/cards/english/overview_de.jsp

or the Citi Petro-Canada card which offers $0.02 off every litre of fuel (when gas was below $1.00/L this was a better deal at about 2%, now it's closer to 1.5%).

There's also the Amex "BlueSky" rewards card which essentially offers 1.25% back on rewards, primarily focused on travel.

Shop around, decide what sort of rewards you are after. Just don't forget that at 1 or 2% you'll need to spend $100,000 to get that $1,000 or $2,000 in rewards, so its going to take a little while.

First credit card question: How long after your purchase does it take to get billed the min. monthly payment?

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

I made my first purchase a few days ago, and, currently my minimum payment (due at the beginning of July) is $0. Does this mean that I won't be billed for this purchase until next month? Also, if I do pay some money this month (even though the minimum is zero), will that still go toward my credit card balance?

Read the small print on the letter that came with your credit card. It should say how much of a grace period you should have before you have to pay. It might be about a month. But it depends on when the period started, probably around the beginning of the month.
Your charge should show up soon on your record. Basically, any money you send to the company that's attached to your card will show up in your account.
Have you received a statement yet?

I'm an owner of a small business, I'm looking for a business credit card with rewards. Which one would you recommend?

There are two business credit cards that I will definitely recommend. I'm confident because have them myself. :D

Capital One Visa Business Platinum with No Hassle Cash (SM) card is ideal for business owners who want to earn cash rewards and get an annual cash bonus on earnings. Cardholders will receive 1% cash back on all their purchases. Plus, they will be rewarded with a 25 percent bonus annually on all the cash back earnings from the prior year.

Is it better to get a AMEX platinum cashback card, or a BA AMEX airmiles card?

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

I already have an AMEX Platinum. But i was wondering, in value, if i spend roughly 15,000-20,000 a year on them, which works out better in value? I do travel alot in europe but with budget airlines, but soon am thinking of going further out.

My partner and I use Amex Platinum — I would be surprised if a BA AMEX airmiles card is better — but if you decide it is I would be interested in knowing why. Jonathan flies to Cali and back alot from NY — but he also fishes around for bargains.

I know, I'm rambling.

Have a nice day.

What credit card is best to pay off first? A card overbalance or closed?

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

I have a credit card that is over my credit limit but is still "open" or I have a card that is below the limit but has been closed by the creditor.
What is the best card to pay off first, asuming that the interest rates are the same. I'm leaning towards the open account that is over limit.
Which one would show most favorably on my credit file?
I don't USE credit cards, only cash, so lectures about not using the cards is not needed. I made a mistake now I'm paying for it. Iw ill glady pay off my debts instead of taking the cowards way out and declare bankrupty.

No over limit fees, all of those are waived.
Likewise I am already paying well over the minimum payments on each one, but am thinking that I would knock one of the cards down to the mimimum payment and double up payments on the card that is not closed, but it over limit.

Sounds as if I'm heading in the right track.

thanks

If you have an account over-the-limit and another one that is closed, the OTL account is your first priority. It will show most favorably if it is still open and you can quickly return it to a current status.

If you are having these problems, you may benefit from a debt management plan. You may wish to meet with a credit counselor to discuss options for improving your situation. A directory of local agencies is below.

im looking for a rewards credit card that will fit my needs?

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

i dont travel much as in flying, but i would use it for gas, groceries, and other store purchases. what would be the best rewards card that would suite me. i always pay my bills, i have excellent credit.

Go to creditcards.com . They compare and list every credit card and its benefits and downfalls. It's a pretty decent site. Otherwise, if you're just looking for one right away, I'd say the cashback bonus rewards card from Discover. Discover is pretty much the only credit card company I've yet to have any problems with.

can you get Airmiles or cashback debit cards.?

in the uk if so where and what
thanks

No. The charging structure of debit cards makes this prohibitive.

What are the credit card rewards program of American Express Blue Sky Rewards Credit Card?

Friday, November 21st, 2008

I'm considering applying for Blue Sky from American Express. What are the rewards credit card program benefits and features of Blue Sky American Express?

For those who have very good credit and have plans of taking advantage of the reward program, American Express designed a card for you, the Blue Sky Rewards.

What are the reasons why this card is simply for you? It has reasonable interest rate. You do not any annual fee to pay for. You can also take advantage of the 0% introductory rate for your purchases in six months time. It has to be made clear that the introductory rate for balance transfers only applies to those who initiate a transfer when applying online for the card.

The great thing about the Blue Sky from American Express, the credit card rewards program are amazing. There's no annual fee, low introductory rates, and free rewards program with no blackout dates or travel restrictions.

Other benefits offered by the Blue Sky from American Express include auto rental insurance, a Return Protection which credits cardholders with the maximum amount of $300 for purchases that are non-refundable in 90 days. This also includes a year end report.
